Maze & Vale hand-printed textiles

Friday, 19 October 2012

I'm pretty excited today because one of my favourite markets, the Finders Keepers, kicks off this evening at the Royal Exhibition Building in Melbourne. This indie design and craft market is always good fun and each time it's on manages to delight and surprise with it's fantastic mix of makers (and I manage to walk away with a handful of handmade goods!). If you're in Melbourne this evening or tomorrow, I'd encourage you to head over there for a browse. In celebration of the market coming to town, I wanted to highlight one of the stallholders who will be there this weekend – Leslie Keating of Maze & Vale.

Leslie has been designing and making for many years, but late last year decided to follow her love of hand printing and launched Maze & Vale, a line of original screen printed fabric. Leslie tends to work in muted tones and natural fibres, and the result is a gorgeous collection of designs suitable for quilting, toys and homewares. Leslie prints all of her fabrics herself in her small Melbourne studio and sells her fabrics as panels or by the metre, and also has some DIY toy kits, tea towels, clutches and totes in her range. I intend to seek out Leslie's stall for some new cushion fabric, as my poor old couch is crying out for a furnishing update.
